An 85 Mongoose Frame and Fork

Well the key component is here for Cru Jones look a like bike. Spent most of the day stripping GT decals, silver spray, and some kind of black tar. Underneath was a nice chrome finish for an 85 rider. Getting the cups pressed in tomorrow. Here is a before the clean up.

I was searching the internet for anything RAD related and came across this photo from HellTrack 1985. It was on the Redline archive site and was shared by Kevin "Sheepdog" Hull. This is classic.

I am going for the California based on the info from vintagemongoose.com. This site is awesome and offers years worth of catalogs for easy downloads.

Building Cru's bike

So now that I have started this blog, the need to recreate the bike Cru rode in RAD is my new mission. I have already completed an 85 Dyno, 87 GT Performer, 89 Pro Performer and a 92 Robinson. With all this experience I should be in good shape. Currently in the research mode and collecting the info to get this as authentic as possible. Special thanks to www.vintagemongoose.com for sending me archival photos. BMXMuseum has also been a great source of examples.
